“Hi, Im calling about the 36 units you have listed for sale on David Court…”
This was the beginning of my initial call to contact the broker about the property for sale that my wife had located the night before.
OF COURSE, i was talking to an answering machine,
Im an apartment investor based in california and I saw a listing for the proerty that caught my attention.
“Please call me back and let me know if the property is still available”
I was doing the one thing that most new investrs find to be very difficult and intiidating- contactinga broker
For some reason this initial contact is very difficult fomr most people. Im no exception, but I have found that if i just bite the bullet and make the initial phone call then I can manage to overcome the hesitance and have a useful conversation.
Of course, this time I got lucky, and i got the nswering machine. For me, I always feel better when the person that im calling already expects to talk to me. In this case, the answering machine was my introduction.
As it turned out, it was going to be even easier to talk to the broker, but more on that in the next installement
